Speaker A:

Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives.

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

While Jesus comments here arise out of a conversation on divorce, they also provide insight into how God has always worked with humans.

Speaker A:

Hard and stubborn hearted, our human family has often forced the divine hand.

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

Why?

Speaker A:

Because of the limited options our own actions have left him.

Speaker A:

While Almighty God yet operates in the theater of love and its inseparable companion liberty, as he works to extract us from this awful pit into which we have flung ourselves, he must often shift his approach because of our bullheaded, stubborn hearts often being forced to take a last resort course of action just to save the day.

Speaker A:

God, forgive us for putting your great heart through such intense suffering by our persistent course of rebellion.
