28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Jesus. Matthew:Jesus does not increase the bondage or burden of the heart, rather he sets us free from bondage we ourselves, our sin—and society—have wrapped us with, welcoming us into fellowship with him. Further, his way of life will not gut us from the inside out or grind us up with incessant stress. He’s a gentle teacher and his way light and easy. Now that sounds good to me. It’s easy in part because he works his beautiful purpose from the inside out, not the other way around. He doesn’t force us into some new mold, but rather leads our hearts into a new place, where we become ever more beautiful people—more and more like him.
