“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. . . . 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Jesus. Matthew 7:7 and 11. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 22 of 30 Days of Prayer. God will give good things. What a promise. In fact, after inviting us to Ask, seek, find—Jesus asked a couple of questions that went something like this. If you’re son came hope and asked for a new pair of sneakers, would you give him a pile of rocks? Or if your daughter said, mom, I’m starving—would you point her to the cat food dish? Then Jesus made this incredible connection: ‘Listen, if you wouldn’t do that, in spite of having issues like the rest of humanity—you can bet your heavenly Daddy would only give good things to those who ask.” Wow. That’s full of hope. The reality that we can talk to God with the absolute certainty that he will respond with good things. Every. Single. Time. BTW, this also reminds us that God won’t give us BAD things—and here’s what I mean. Some of the stuff we desperately want, the stuff we don’t think we can live without, would actually harm us. So, when answering those prayers, God will give us something so much better, unexpected from the depths of his kind heart.
