If you abide in Me, and My words habide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
Jesus. Jn 15:7. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 27 of 30 days of promise. Answered prayer. Honestly, I’ve often wrestled with prayer—how it works, what it means. I still wrestle with prayer. I don’t get everything I ask—or even hope for—and I can assure you that I’m not just talking about silly things, or material stuff. I’m talking real, important stuff. My guess is, if you’re a praying person, you don’t get answers every time, either. Yet, here’s this promise. I think the catch isn’t in God’s failure to honor his word, but in relational distance from him. Prayer is designed to bring us so close to the heart of God that the things we desire become more and more aligned with the things that are best for us—the very things God wants for us and those around us. The more aligned we become with God’s heart, the more our prayers reflect his beautiful purpose and the more we see our desires being answered.
