By humility and the fear of the LORD
Are riches and honor and life.
Solomon. Proverbs 22:4. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 21 of 30 Days of Wisdom. Humility—having a realistic view of one’s self, as opposed to the normal inflated, self-congratulatory image normal to human beings. Fear of the Lord—living in awe and wonder of who God is. This twin focal-point creates a paradigm in which wealth(yes, that includes BOTH stuff AND moral wealth); honor(who we are as persons of integrity and moral value AND how people treat us in reaction to who we are); life(rich, full satisfying existence AND actual, physical vitality and years of good health). Really, in these words, Solomon has disclosed to us the great twin-pillars of abundant living. Don’t sweep over them quickly, soak them in, let the shift your view of reality; transform how you live and carry out life. Be humble, i.e. strive for a candid, true-view of yourself NOT inflated by pride AND take time to sit and gaze on the wonder and beauty of kind, beautiful Monarch of the Galaxies, The Just One, The Living God, The Comforter, The Redeemer. You will have life in abundance beyond your wildest dreams. Really.
