Jesus. Matthew 5:11, 12. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 10 of 30 Days on the Mount of Blessing. False accusation is difficult to stomach. Slander and back-stabbing bite hard. So Jesus gives a direct shout-out to those pushing back against the peer pressure. Affirming their courage, assuring them of great reward for their brave faithfulness—cheering them on with the knowledge that they are in the very best of company, the prophets. These most deeply honored of all human agents, have been treated just the same. When suffering for right, we stand in a company of heroes. Next time you take one in the gut for doing the right thing—in the right way, that means not being cocky or self-righteous—hold your head up, you’re in the best of company. In fact, when you’re by yourself, it’s ok to do the happy dance—to jump up and down with joy, because goodness is winning out in your life, and the trouble you’re facing is good evidence.
