Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Jesus. Matthew 5:48 . Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 30 of 30 Days on the Mount of Blessing. Be perfect. This command has been misused and misapplied so many times. What was Jesus getting at? What was his point? Quite simply, your Father treats all others with kindness, and being like him, means doing the same. Perfection here is simply another way to describe the goodness that defines our heavenly Father’s character. He operates in his circle with perfect goodness toward those around him, leveraging his power for their blessing. So, too, in our circles, being like him, means acting with goodness toward those we touch, leveraging our resources to bless all we can.
