Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Jesus. Luke 6:38. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 28 of 30 Days to a Better Marriage. Give. Marriage is not about what we can get—but about giving. Too often one or the other partner becomes focused on what they are getting out of the marriage. We can begin to pout or become demanding when our wants and expectations are not met. When we do so, we are draining our marriage of life. Jesus’ instruction is to give, to invest generously. To measure out kindness as we wish it to be measured back to us. If we’re stingy and greedy toward our spouse—we’ll find our marriage will become defined by a spirit of jealousy and greed. If we live generously, investing in the well-being of our spouse, we’ll often discover that our marriage will become defined by the same spirit.
