Matthew 14:14-20 (NKJV): When Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. ... Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and ... He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled.
Hey, I’m Nathan, and this is Day 16 of 30 Days Watching Jesus. When Jesus sees people. Compassion surges from deep within. Jesus shows us God’s heart toward people. In this case, Jesus immediately begins to heal their sick. When God moves toward people, he does so to bring wholeness, healing, redemption. Healing, however, isn’t the only Jesus does—he provides a simple feast. See, Jesus all of our need—and he seeks to ease it, whether health, or food, or aching heart. There is no need that any human can carry for which he does not feel compassion—and move to make a difference. Like the disciples, we are often the ones through whom he makes that difference.
