Matthew 18:15–16 (NKJV): Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ Jesus. Matthew 18:15–16
Hey, I’m Nathan, and this is Day 18 of 30 Days Watching Jesus. We’ve all been
offended, hurt, disgraced by another. Often, instead of trying to find a way forward with this dear friend, we turn our backs in bitterness, and start sharing out tale of woe with whomever will listen. Yet Jesus guides to choose a different path.
Relationships are of such value in his eyes, that he teaches us to press in. To limit the spread of the relational collapse, taking every wise step possible to mend and restore what has been severed. In this age of ‘cancel culture’ we’ve become quick to abandon friendships, tear up relatives—and slow to push in, slow to seek healing.
It hasn’t done much beyond creating perhaps the loneliest cultures on earth. How about we try Jesus way for once?
