The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He
established the heavens; 20 By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew.
Solomon. Proverbs 3:19 & 20. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 29 of ANOTHER 30 Days of Wisdom. The wiseman now proceeds to justify his strong endorsement of wisdom’s value: it’s how God built the world. All the good in the world we inhabit, was engineered by wisdom. The cosmic symphony of celestial bodies. The intricacies of butterfly wings. The wonder of a baby’s smile. The tingle of a lover’s touch. The capacity for experiencing happiness or heart-pounding awe. Each thoughtfully engineered through wisdom and understanding—and that treasure is precisely the one the writer assures his young reader is accessible in embracing the way of wisdom. In other words, we can take a risk with wisdom, because we can observe the tangible evidence of what it can do. It’s been used before—used to build the stuff of life. We see the results. So it’s rather safe to cherish and embrace it ourselves, even as we employ it in a our journey into an unknown future. By the way, we also see the results of abandoning wisdom. The good world, a product of wisdom. The demise of that good world, the sure result of abandoning it.
