It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account . . . 4 that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.
Luke. Luke 1:3, 4. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 2 of 30 Days in the Gospels. Luke, a physician, had a thorough knowledge of the story of Jesus. He was both a prophetic voice and a scholar. Through his gifts as a writer and thinker, God was able to give a unique, compelling perspective on the story of Jesus. Two things are fascinating: Luke took initiative to write the book. This highlights the Divine-human, interactive nature of the prophetic gift. Secondly, as we read the account of Luke—or any of the other Gospels—we discover their primary purpose is to cement in our hearts the CERTAINTY of Jesus’ reality. Our faith is not grounded in historical-fiction, or ancient fable. Our faith is, in fact, grounded in REALITY. Jesus, the incarnate God, did in FACT live in Palestine. He is in FACT our risen, living Savior today.
