Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Angels. Luke 2:14. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 6 of 30 Days in the Gospels. “On earth, peace, goodwill toward men.” That’s heaven’s word to us. That’s what gets the angels excited. That’s the incredibly attitude of God toward us. Peace. Goodwill. Think of it, this angelic message we relish during the Christmas season, is so full of hope. Peace brought to a world furiously engaged in a race against death, clawing at one another for first place. Heaven gifted us with the Peacemaker. In him receive the hope of peace in place of evil’s insanity. Goodwill, too. And that’s incredible. We’re rebels—every last one of us—and we’re not the good kind, the underdogs scrapping to deliver an imprisoned people from a savage tyrant. We’re the bad kind—the savages who stole the crown jewels and made off with the King’s daughters—all for mere personal gain. Yet what is the king’s attitude toward rebel land: Goodwill.
