9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Jesus. Matthew 6:9. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 10 of 30 Days of Prayer. “Our Father in Heaven”. Daddy. That’s a special word for me. It’s how I referred to my dad throughout my childhood. It brings to mind piggy-back rides; jumping into leaf piles; walking along wooded creeks; warm hugs and even much-deserved scoldings. Daddy, this intimate name for father, is the warm-hearted language Jesus had in mind. It reveals both deep strength and gentle approachability. Eager affection and faithful protection. Generous giving and wise discipline. As we reach out in prayer, Jesus longs for us to know THIS is who we approach. God is NOT waiting for us to blow it so he can yell at us. He does not mess up our plans today because we disappointed him yesterday. He is not moody or ill-tempered. He is not lazy or a workaholic. He does not blame us for his actions. He does not fill our lives with trouble to see how far he can push us. NO. NO. NO. He is kind and good in the very largest sense of the word to the very core of his being.
