REFLECTION: God. Is 55:8–9. Hi, it’s Nathan—and this is Day 8 of 30 days of promise. This is another of my favorites. I like how God distances his thinking from ours—In so many words God’s saying—I’m better than that; I’m bigger than that. No, I don’t think like that!! Who do you think I am, anyway? What kind of box have you put me in. STOP! Too often we put God in our box—we imagine what he’s like based on what we know, what we’ve been told; what we’re like. God says, no!! I’m not like that! I don’t behave that way—my love for you is not fickle and shifting, it’s large, determined, generous, enduring. I don’t give up easily—I keep on loving, at whatever cost to myself. I want the best for you, and I keep on working to make that happen through whatever means I possibly can.
