REFLECTION: God. Jeremiah 1:5. Hi, I’m Nathan and this is day 2 of 30 days of promise. God’s declaration to Jeremiah is full of assurance. No human being comes into the world without purpose. God knew about every child who has been born—long before conception ever occurred. He knows of every child yet to be born. He has not masterminded the circumstances surrounding that birth—no rape, or incest, or drunken lapse in judgment—was ever his plan for bringing a human being into the world—but he has known that it would occur. In his great, gentle heart he has cherished a beautiful purpose for that child, whatever the circumstances of their arrival. He has known every hair, carried every tear, ached with every wound—all the while working tirelessly to achieve his beautiful dream. He has never ordained the pain brought along by hurtful human beings—but has pressed back against the darkness of evil toward the realization of something wonderful. My child, however you got here, whatever the pain you have endured—God has been passionately pursuing his purpose for you, pressing back against the darkness that has been fighting to destroy you. We may not here understand the pain that has haunted our path in life, but we can be absolutely certain that he has never wished or willed such evil toward us. Lucifer and his henchmen have. You and I can embrace God’s dream for us—no matter the darkness that presses us under. Surrender to the liberation of his unfailing faithfulness, and discover the wonder of his dreams for you.
