The New King James Version. (:

REFLECTION: God. Jeremiah 31:3. Hi, I’m Pastor Nathan Stearman, and this is day 1 of 30 Days of Promise—30 brief reflections on some of my favorite promises in Scripture. All Scripture quoted is from the New King James Version of the Bible, Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson. Used by permission. All rights reserved. A promise is a very simple thing: it’s a personal commitment to do something, or become something in the future. Some of the Scriptures I’ve included, like this one, however, aren’t actually promises-- they simply a declare a fact about God. I include them as promises, because they refer to a divine behavior toward human beings. Toward you, toward me. In this passage, God declares how he behaves toward us, “with lovingkindness”. This compound word, lovingkindness, is an attempt to translate a Hebrew word describing God’s faithful love. It is a perfect springboard for this series of reflections on God’s promises. Perfect, because it informs us that God acts—and has always acted—toward humanity—you, me—out of his faithfulness. The promises in Scripture have power precisely because of the incredible reality of this divine faithfulness. God always relates to us out of who He is—an always-faithful lover.
