Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.”
God. Isaiah 35:4. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 14 of 30 Days of Pushing Back Fear. Sometimes we find ourselves in overwhelming circumstances—like a deer surrounded by a pack of closing wolves. A combat company pinned down under a rain of enemy fire. God, to us, in the middle of an enclosing enemy: I will show up. And save you. In a broken world, where we do face unimaginable pain, unthinkable horrors, nighttime terrors—I can’t tell you how, but I can offer you his personal promise to show up. And deliver. God is not unmindful, indifferent, or inactive in your current circumstances. Sometimes, in the middle of the horror, we must lock our hearts away in the assurance, that somehow, some way, he will show up, and deliver.
