The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
David. Psalm 18:2. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 13 of 30 Days of Pushing Back Fear. A stronghold. A fortress. A castle rock. A firewall. A safe zone. That’s God to those who trust him. If you’ve been listening over the last few episodes, you know I’m not about to tell you this means you’ll never face trouble. It does mean, however, that David found security, reprieve *IN* the storm. He wasn’t necessarily unruffled by it, as you’ll undoubtedly pick up if you read much of his poetry, but he had this big-picture sense that he was safe and secure as he rested in God’s care. The Scripture does not teach that our security lies in God being in absolute control, but that he is a fortress in the middle of anything that life or hell can through our way.
