Jesus. Luke 5:31, 32. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 18 of 30 Days on the Mount of Blessing, pt 3–and other sayings of Jesus.
Good people. Ooooh, wait. I guess I said that wrong. Let me start over. People can get it in their heads that there are good people and bad people. Of course, they, those people over there, are ALWAYS the bad people—and WE need to keep our distance from THEM, at all costs. Here’s the deal, according to Jesus, HE is over there, with THEM, NOT with self-righteous us. Whenever we begin to pat ourselves on the back because of how far we’ve come and how much better off we are than THEY—whoever they are—we move ourselves away from Jesus and his work. Our self-righteous assessment has just defined where Jesus would be working—and where he would need to be working less. Oops, I did it again. But I think you get the point.
