Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James. James 5:16. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 26 of 30 Days to a Better Marriage. Intercession. Our spouses struggle with fallenness—just like we do. We can nag them, guilt them, shame them, cajole them toward better behavior—at least we can try to. Ultimately, such efforts must fail. WE cannot make our spouse a good person—that’s God’s role. We CAN pray fervently for them. We can lay them urgently, gently in the arms of our kind Savior through our prayers. We can allow every moment of friction, frustration, disappointment to simply move us to silent prayer, trusting his gentle hand to do its good work. We can fight FOR our spouse by pressing into Jesus on their behalf.
