Nathan:

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.

Solomon. Proverbs 2:6-8. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 15 of ANOTHER 30 Days of Wisdom. God is a fountain of wisdom. To those open to his guidance, he will overflow with generous guidance and insight. He does not hoard knowledge, but shares it freely with those who can use it well. We won’t always receive the knowledge we want. We won’t always get it when we want it. But we will receive the knowledge we need, when we need it, as we press into him. There is, too, a compounding effect in place. The more open we are to his wisdom, the greater our capacity to receive it. This is, in fact, self-evident. Consider mathematics—learning the basics in 1st grade is the first step—of many—that prepares the way for solving complex equations as a college freshman. One piece of knowledge forms the key to more complex levels of knowledge. Or relationship. This is how we work—and it’s how God works with us. Skip or minimize those first introductory lessons—and you’ll face trouble ahead. Each step in our journey with God is rich with value—no matter how small or insignificant it may appear.

And one more thing: not only does he promise an expanding repertoire of wisdom—but because this is a personal matter, not merely an intellectual exchange of data—he promises his personal, protective care. They are inseparable, because the gift of wisdom is born of a heart of strong compassion and unbreakable kindness—both wisdom and protection coming from the same kind, generous heart. Sometimes even coming in the same gift.
