My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within
you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to
understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for
understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden
treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God.
Solomon. Proverbs 2:1-5. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 14 of ANOTHER 30 Days of Wisdom. This is an incredible promise—if you’re determined to know wisdom, if you listen well—you will. God makes no effort to hide it from us, but rather works constantly to draw us into the path of wisdom. Here’s the way Solomon lays it out: hear wisdom’s voice; take the time to wrestle with it and understand; ask for discernment and understanding—seek for it (wisdom) like a scientist working diligently to crack an animal’s genetic code—and you will discover it!And so much more. Wisdom brings with it, not merely insights into living life well, but the wonder and delight of knowing life’s Architect personally. And that’s incredible! Just think of how much we human’s enjoy meeting someone we admire—could be a YouTuber, a sports star, an acquaintance we’ve made through social media. A TV personality. A famous world leader or an influential writer. Yet how often do we reflect on the privilege of intimate relationship with the Master Builder of life? And not just a chance acquaintance, either. Not just a fleeting glimpse at a concert or a brief conversation in a busy sports venue or a cheesy photo op—but intimate, long-term, daily, interaction. Companionship. THIS is the wild, surreal offer of wisdom’s Maker.
