“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord."
Solomon. Proverbs 1:28 & 29. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 12 of ANOTHER 30
Days of Wisdom. The wise king pauses. Our eyes riveted on him, waiting for his next words. His face is deadly serious, when he again continues: for every human being who keeps pushing back against wisdom, there comes a moment when they are forever incapable of perceiving wisdom. They have literally created an internal psychological state that is actually incapable of discerning and receiving wisdom in any form. They have told lies and embraced lies for so long, that they are psychologically incapable of discerning and appreciating truth. The human psyche is constantly settling into the form we build for it. If that form is in the shape of wisdom, our psyche becomes increasingly formed by that shape—and increasingly resistant to other forms. The same is true if that form is shaped after ignorance.
Slowly our minds are conforming to the shape of ignorance—and increasingly resist words of wisdom. This happens, until one day, the possibility of re-molding stops, and all further formation will only be a firming and maturing into the mold we have consistently chosen. One day, either ignorance or wisdom will finally define us. Our decisions today—both big and small—are deciding which it will be. We are always becoming. Rejecting wisdom, is not an act of fool-hearty risk—such as playing Russian roulette. Rather, each decision is simply one more brick in a predicable form we are building. The outcome is as certain as the form which the bricks we are laying create. There is no gambling here—what we are building will certainly be who we ultimately are, unless we change course, before the form is too strong.
