Nathan:

They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies. For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.”

Solomon. Proverbs 1:30-33. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 13 of ANOTHER 30 Days of Wisdom. Today’s choices, are the words that form the story of our future. Today’s decisions, are the framework of our tomorrow’s verdict. In this sense, we are, today, the craftsman of our own, ultimate destiny. What the wise man wishes for his reader to understand, is that the outcomes are not imposed, but an integral part of reality. Neither are they negotiable—our choices have unavoidable repercussions. See, the fabric of reality is woven with definite cause-and-effect relationships.

These are as certain as the laws of physics. If you jump from a building here on earth, you will fall at a specific, increasing rate, governed by natural law. If you throw an object, it will continue on a trajectory directly correlating to the laws acting up on it. Moral law is equally as certain. As moral beings, we exist in a certain kind of universe, defined by specific relational laws. These are inviolable, in other words, they work consistently and predictably, in unbreakable correlation to each other. So, while we can live in denial of them—we cannot void, or negate them. We genuinely inhabit the world which our choices have engineered—whether one of flourishing, or of dying. The power of both rests with us—and our response to the voice of Wisdom. A life with a starting point of God, has a certain, predictable trajectory—and its associated benefits. One without him, has its own, certain, predictable trajectory, and its final painful pay-outs.
