The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
10 . . . For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
The Psalmist. Psalm 9:9, 10. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 17 of 30 Days of Psalms. A refuge for the oppressed. God never turns the other way when peoples are oppressed. One child, bullied on the playground, catches his eye. One tribe attacked, grabs turns his stomach. One racial slur, moves him in pity. This God of ours is not indifferent to the needs of the oppressed. He is their defender, their refuge. We must keep this ever in mind, both as comfort in the struggle and as deterrent lest we ourselves become the oppressor. It is certain the hand of oppression is not always stayed now, but it is equally certain that one day the oppressed will be set free and the oppressors meet final justice.
