I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.
The Psalmist. Psalm 3:5. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 7 of 30 Days of Psalms. There are times when I reflect, for a few brief moments, on the fragile nature of existence. As I ponder with trepidation the momentary nature of living, I tremble. In truth, our capacity to watch recorded video, delete a line of text, or return to a previous webpage with the back-button, creates an illusion of movement in time. We fill our calendars with travel plans as though 6 months in the future were a certainty. To us, however, only this moment is certain. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow yet unwritten, in spite of our carefully crafted plans. How can we live at peace with this tenuous reality of our fragile existence? By recognizing in each moment that we are sustained by the kind hand of God. He has demonstrated he will care for us at all costs to himself, therefore, we can be certain, that whatever comes in the next moment, we are perfectly safe to trust his grand heart.
