Jesus. John 3:5, 6. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 27 of 30 Days on the Mount of Blessing, pt 3–and other sayings of Jesus.
Two worlds are at war within us—and around us. The flesh—our desire to live a life aimed at achieving the very best for ourselves. And the spirit—the call of the Spirit of God on our hearts to become what we were always meant to be, life-givers. And these two kingdoms are exclusive. We cannot pursue the best interests of self—and simultaneously respond to the call of the Spirit to a life of blessing. To move from self-interest to other-centered living is such a radical shift, that it is represented as a new birth, a fresh re-creation of who we are. No, it doesn’t wreck us and erase our unique identity, but it does birth in us something so new and beautiful that everything about us begins to take on a new shine. It is the beginning of us becoming the best version of ourselves imaginable. And it unfolds in a daily journey of releasing the old and being reborn into the new.
