Jesus. Matthew 7:21. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 4 of 30 Days on the Mount of Blessing, pt 3–and other sayings of Jesus.

Here’s the ultimate follow-up to Jesus’ words. Sobering indeed. Big claims are not the ticket. Theological knowledge is not the way in. Church participation or charity work. Not the way in. Being a good person. Not the way in. The only folks who will cross into heaven: the ones whose lives reflect the unfolding of God’s will: living out his grace toward others. Loving more and more like he loves. This is doing the will of the Father. Only trees bearing good fruit will be in the eternal garden—because they are good trees. And good trees always bear good fruit. And good trees are good because God has made them good.
